My wife, sister and I visited Cama Beach Cafe for lunch Wednesday August 21st. Unfortunately, I was unaware of the $10 park fee. I explained to the lady at the gate that we were only interested in lunch and not planning on using or visiting other park facilities. Although she was very nice, I still had to pay the $10 fee.
I’m hope this fee will be waived in the future for those only interested in dining at the cafe.
Hi Larry – thank you so much for your note, and your nice compliment.
I get you, totally! It’s a bummer (don’t get me started on the ways we are nickled and dimed in this society!) Unfortunately the state park offices in Olympia are unbending. We are doing our best to keep our food prices low to help defray the cost of the parking. A lot of our customers bought the yearly pass, which at $30 allows you to visit all the state parks in Washington. If it makes you feel any better, I understand that most states are now charging state park fees, so I guess we should feel lucky that we’ve had ours “free” for this long.
Again, thank you for paying the fee and trying us out. Occasionally I hear of people who turn around at the gate, and it makes me sad. I have it posted on the website that the pass is necessary and in our advertisements, but people don’t always see it. Take good care.
Built in the 1930's, when waterfront "car resorts" graced the Puget Sound shores, Cama was just one of 175 of these family fishing vacation spots.
Now, thanks to the generosity of the original family owners, Cama Beach is the last remaining - one of a kind. A true step back in time.
The cafe is located in the brand new lodge, with ample parking.
Discover Pass needed.
SUMMER HOURS: every day from 8-2 through Labor Day.
We take reservations only for groups of 7 or more. Weekend breakfasts can be busy. Sometimes we have a waiting list. This is a good time to go for a walk on the beach or in the woods and work up an appetite, so come early if you can, and enjoy the gorgeous scenery!
Daily or Yearly Discover Pass required in the park.
